Temple of Hercules
Stunning view of the Temple of Hercules. entirely handmade with the micromosaic technique, enriched with many semiprecious stones and marbles.
This technique is almost disappeared. Artists that still work with this technique can be counted on one hand.
This type of artwork is similar to the mosaic, but the most common name is “micromosaico“.
The stone pieces are bigger, and the artist cuts each piece at the precise size and shape. Then he frames all of them like a puzzle, blocking them in one another to get the complete drawing.
Another difference is the type of stone. For the Intaglio they generally use more precious stones, like lapislazzuli, agate, onyx, Turquoise, and sometimes even mother of pearl.
The Intaglio technique is almost disappeared. Artists that still work with this technique can be counted on one hand.
