Bucranium
The Bucranium is a decoration used in classic Greek and Roman architecture, and is literally the representation of an “ox skull”. Probably the habit to expose the head of the ox after being sacrificed gave birth to this type of decoration.
Subsequently, it became also a tribute to the hunter, who was wearing the skull when he had to play the role of the warrior.
In this stunning statue, the two sides of the sculpture show the two figures, as a symbol of the symbiotic relationship between the hunter and the prey.
