Elena Assante
Elena Assante was born in Napoli in 1955, she spent the first years between Rome and Napoli, and in 1975 she moved to Napoli. There she attended the Academy of Fine Arts and made her first exhibitions. She loves to paint, photograph, and teach, but also classical literature and travels.
The works of Elena Assante always follow a project, they investigate an aspect of human life, trying to find its essence. Religious iconography, the traditions of her island, eroticism, myth. She prefers acrylic painting but she often uses inks and watercolors. Elena doesn’t like large exhibition spaces. She prefers cafes, libraries, small spaces where she can have close contact with the occasional visitor.
